Gyldendal has had a central role in Norwegian society for nearly 100 years. Our mission has been to create and convey stories, information, educational materials, cultural experiences and social understanding.
Gyldendal Norsk Forlag was founded in 1925, when Norwegian author rights were bought from the Danish publisher Gyldendal in Copenhagen.
We produce content and services that benefit and provide value to our Norwegian readers and customers in all phases of their lives. We are concerned with creating excellent stories, conveying knowledge and information, and moving the world forward with the help of technology and design.

About Gyldendal ASA
Gyldendal is involved in all business areas of the Norwegian book publishing industry.
Gyldendal's activities were concentrated on the book industry with new ventures within book clubs from 1961, logistics and distribution from 1964, and from 1999 the national book chain ARK Bokhandel. From January 1st 2000, the company was transformed into a holding company under the name Gyldendal ASA.
